Raising the stakes: the five magic ingredients to writing advanced crime fiction
Crime fiction is now the world’s most popular genre, with readers all over the globe. In this fun and informative session led by bestselling crime, mystery and thriller writer, Vaseem Khan, you will discover the magic ingredients that will help make your work stand out. You will learn how to:
- Plan and write a crime series
- Create overarching themes that resonate with readers
- Use unreliable narrators, layers of mystery and conflict
- Raise the stakes: from a gripping opening to the perfect climax
- Submit to agents, what publishers are looking for and how to plan a career in crime
With worked examples from some of the most famous books - and authors - in the genre, and covering everything from Golden Age-style cosy crime to historical mysteries and psychological thrillers, this session is a must for everyone interested in understanding the nuts and bolts of great crime fiction.
Price: £35 if booked individually. To maximise your experience, Bow Street Museum recommends attending all three workshops for the reduced price of £90. All tickets include a glass of prosecco or a soft drink alternative on arrival.
